New Bathrooms

Sam D. had the foundation, block walls and the toilets installed before he left. We just got moving on the rest of the building in early January.

We did the roofing with recycled materials from the old bodega. All of the framing for the walls, roof and the windows also came from old structures.

One of our nieghbors let us cut the bamboo we needed to construct the walls. We cut the bamboo lengthwise in 4 sections. Then we over lay them and screw them down. It looks great and costs nearly nothing. We will learn about how to treat it to make it last, but for now it is easy to repair and since it comes from local sources it is an inexpensive expirement.

We used the old septic system that was near the bodega. We hope to learn how to build composting toilet systems soon.

We are desinging the sink and the shower floors right now and will have updated photos soon.
