Getting to the farm

We have many options for getting to the finca.

Arriving at the San Jose Airport seems a bit overwhelming. Just relax and flow until you get the the exit area. If you are taking a cab right from the terminal. Buy your ticket from the window to the left as you are about to exit from the airport. (about $50.00) They will not rip you off like the cabs outside. Many have paid three times what they should. The busses run from outside the airport to San Jose all of the time. Once you arrive in San Jose you will need to take a cab to the Puriscal Terminal. Only about $4.00. The Puriscal bus terminal has a bus departing every 30 minutes. It should take only an hour or so to get to Puriscal by bus.

If we have planned it and it is possible that day I can be in Puriscal to meet you. Although this is not always possible. Our cell phone numbers are 8363.0142 or 8722.9551. Call me when you are getting on your way from San Jose. Our phone only works when we are in town so do not count on this unless you have made plans with us already.

You will get off the bus at the last stop.

Bussing it to San Martin or Salitrales from Puriscal:

The busses leave from the block that the hardware store Macho Cruz is on. Puriscal to San Martin (the bar caballo blanco at the turn off to our farm) runs many times a day.

Tell the bus driver you need to get off at the Bar Caballo Blanco!

Bus schedule from Puriscal towards us: 9:30 to Salitrales / 12:00 noon to San Martin (el caballo blanco) / 1:30 to Tulin passes the caballo blanco / 3:00 to San Martin / 4:45 to San Martin

We have a friend with a truck that can pick you up at the Caballo Blanco and bring you to the farm for 10,000 colones (about $20.00) You will NEED to be in touch with me to set this up.

Cab from Puriscal to the farm:

You can get a cab from Puriscal to our farm for around $50.00, the taxis are along the park in the middle of town. You need to tell them you are going to Lanas. Our road is off of the road that goes to La Cangreja park and on to Parrita. Lanas is 14 KM from San Martin (at the bar Caballo Blanco take a right). The Caballo Blanco is about 5 minutes passed Salitrales on the right. My favorite cab drivers are Papo or Daniel. I can talk to them and tell them you are coming in a few days before and they can help you.

We can set this up with our friend that lives near us in Lanas.

OR

I can set up a small bus to pick you up from the airport and deliver you to the farm. Probably around $125.00 very easy and secure. Costs more in the wet season. It is always best to communicate with me a bunch before you travel and I will try to be in Puriscal for you.

Tell this order of towns starting from the airport to the finca to your cabby.

Alejuela to San Jose 20 KM

San Jose to Puriscal thru Ciudad Colon 35 KM

(Some drivers can cut around the airport and save lots of Km 40 KM direct from airport to Puriscal.)

When you arrive in Puriscal switch to a Puriscal taxi near the CENTRAL PARK to take you to LANAS.

Puriscal to Salitrales 27 KM

Salitrales to San Martin apprx. 4KM (There is no sign for San Martin)

TURN RIGHT at BAR CABALLO BLANCO

Caballo Blanco to Quebrada Honda (a fork in the road no sign) TAKE A RIGHT!

Quebrada Honda to Lanas

Pass Lanas then Over the bridge and up a hill, stay left, pass a school on left, then 500 more meters to the FINCA!

From the Bar Caballo Blanco to the farm is 15KM.
