Planting A Green Future

Main Lodge

When we were looking for a farm this place stood out head and shoulders above the rest.

With so many different people in the tribe that wanted quick access to the Costa Rican jungle this house was a great start. It was about half done when we bought it.

Finished

When we first started living in the house we realized that we wanted in open with lots of fresh moving air. This deck was an epic project but helped us leave the upstairs open.

We had to build a retaining wall to build the deck above. We had to set five 5 meter tall teak posts into a 15 meter VERY steep cliff side!!! Whew!

A useful and pretty way to stop water from flowing into the living room. We are growing peppers and other spices here now.

The parking structure

We built a gray water filter 3 meters deep and 2 meters wide then filled it with sand and progressively larger stones. This filters all of our water usage before it is set free back into the earth, thus our insistence for use of only organic, biodegradable soaps and detergents. In May 2009 we built new drainage field. 3 meters long and over a meter deep to keep the water flowing. We alsogot rid of the sand and replaced it with charcol.

The way that the stairs were originally designed did not honor Joshua's 6' 2" height, so we turned the stairs around. This enabled us to build the pantry below.

Our Friend Wilber Lopez, from Salitrales, painted this for us!

We built a large couch in the living room this week. It is so nice to lay down and watch a movie with your honey on this huge cuddle couch.

We also got started on the downstairs bathroom sink.

We finally have lights that work in the kitchen YEAH!

Dresser built from one of our fallen trees (Pochote) and bamboo.

Many of the projects near the house are in other sections of projects.
