What To Bring

When you are planning your trip just check in here for very important traveling and living tips.

Being located in the jungle requires us to plan ahead for every food and energy need. We make big store runs and buy everything the tribe will need for the week. The per-person costs of your stay will cover the food, propane, diesel, electricity, etc…. Please factor this into your budget.

Flying in on the same day as another person will save everyone money and time when sharing rides to the farm, so communicating with the rest of the tribe is important when you are planning dates. Transportation costs are the responsibility of both shareholders and visitors – we cannot meet/pickup people unless they can cover our costs to do so.

We will always have needs for certain foods, spices (nutritional yeast please!) and other important things so please communicate with us to help. And then there are some items needed for a comfortable stay. Here is a condensed list:

  • Rubber Boots. You can also score boots at the local hardware store in Puriscal. (unless you need size 11 or bigger, get those in the states)
  • Flashlights. It gets dark out here, and you will want to see where you’re going. Also, power outages are relatively common and can last a while.
  • Biodegradable & Organic Soaps and Detergents only, please.
  • Good books for our library. Both fun and/or helpful to the cause.
  • Proper budget for extra needs like the beach and zip line tours.
  • If you can bring a pillow please do.  Mold eats our pillows quickly.
  • We do not provide alcohol so bring beer money. The local Bavarian dark is about $2.00 a beer. The Rum is good and inexpensive.

We are in the process of building with cob and digging swales. Please bring clothes that okay for getting dirty. Jeans are a good idea in the fields. Light weight long shirts would be a good idea too.

What are your age/grade requirements. Sounds very interesting and something my son might eventually be interested in. Great cause and keep up the hard work.
