We are hard at work getting the new veggie oil cooking stoves distributed and set up. We are helping to reduce dependance on petroleum while also securing a local market for farmers products. VerdEnergia has had the pleasure of distributing 25 of these stoves as a part of a feasibility study in this region. SHAPE International donated 50 stoves in total!
This stove burns 0.20 liters per hour of either used or new vegetable oil. The 2 liter tank offer around 9 hours of cooking time. We are helping distribute used oil to people for $2.00 a gallon during this pilot program. We are helping to save families about 40% a month on cooking gas or even more compared to electricity.

We could use some donations to help get these stoves and oil out to the poorest of our neighbors.
We had a meeting with the people from Ecotropica. A foundation located in Puriscal. They are going to help the community of Lanas with any ecologically sound projects that we can think of , that will benefit the community and nature. We are thinking in the direction of biodigestors and micr hydro electricity. Or mayby a communal greenhouse? We’ll see. The second sunday in december we will have a meeting with the people from town to discuss what we want.
