We have spent the past few years establishing a local water board in Lanas.  The purpose of this community organization is to complete the construction of a communal water system that delivers fresh, clean, and inexpensive water to everyone in the town.  The water board’s proposal written to an NGO has been accepted and the organization is providing funding for all of the materials.  It’s up to the citizens of Lanas to provide the labor (i.e. pipe fitting, trench digging, bulldozer use full-time for one week).

Once constructed, the system will be maintained by affordable monthly tariffs based on usage.  The tariffs will make up-keep possible by employing a resident to oversee the system part-time.  A work-trade situation would also be available for anyone who may not be able to afford the few dollars per month.  Your donations will enable us to provide clean water to Carlos’ house, his mother’s and brother’s houses, the high school and elementary school.  The first $500 donated to this project will be matched by a private donor.
