VerdEnergia Pacifica is dedicated to fostering regenerative living through immersive, hands-on education and meaningful cross-cultural connection. With the principles of Permaculture as our guiding tool, we seek to transmute the challenges facing our communities into replicable solutions. Our work enables us to create right livelihood through the regeneration and gentle cultivation of the forest we are honored to call home.

OUR STORY
VerdEnergia was founded in 2006 by a small group of friends with a vision of creating a sustainable future for their families.
Since then, we’ve transformed degraded cattle land into a thriving food forest in one of Costa Rica’s most deforested regions and have helped plant over 150,000 trees with the support of grants and mutual aid.
We fondly call VerdEnergia our “laboratory,” where we experiment with practices that restore biodiversity and cultivate harmony within ecosystems and human relationships. Every day we are learning and practicing ways to live more balanced lives in a diverse ecosystem.
In 2013, we successfully fought off the threat of a proposed African palm oil plantation in our watershed, and this victory gave rise to Blacksheep, a regenerative resource management company working to reforest degraded landscapes and protect economic sovereignty in rural Costa Rica. Our collaboration with Blacksheep helped VerdEnergia achieve USDA organic certification in 2019, positioning us as leaders in organic farming and value-added product development within our watershed.
Beyond reforestation and farming, we host Permaculture Design Certification Courses, internships, workshops, and events in our developing ecovillage. Over the years, we have helped train hundreds of leaders in the art of regenerative living and built a global network of thousands of friends and allies from all over the world.
